Privacy Policy
How SavYour collects, uses and protects your personal data.
Who we are
SavYour is an Irish-based household bill review and savings service and is the data controller in relation to the personal data you provide to us. SavYour is registered in Ireland with the Companies Registration Office (CRO No. 789451). Registered office: Lackamore, Newport, Co. Tipperary, V94 H2VR. In this policy, "we", "us", "our" and "SavYour" refer to SavYour.
SavYour is a household bill review, savings and complaint support service. You pay us a flat fee. We review your household costs across energy, broadband, insurance and subscriptions, identify where you may be overpaying, and tell you what you could do about it. We do the work. You make the decisions; you make the call.
We do not act on your behalf in deciding, negotiating, arranging or entering into any contract. We do not switch providers for you or submit applications or forms for you. Where you expressly authorise us to retrieve a personalised insurance quotation, we use only the factual information needed to obtain and present that quotation to you. You review the quotation information and decide whether to act directly with the relevant insurer or broker.
We do not take commission. We are paid only by you, through a flat service fee. We hold no agencies, referral arrangements or paid-promotion deals with any provider. This shapes the data we collect: we collect what we need to review your bills, and nothing more.
Lawful bases for processing
- Performance of a contract — most of what we do. When you buy a Savings Action Plan or Complaint Support, we need your accurate, complete and up-to-date payment and provider details to deliver that service to you. If you use insurance quote retrieval, we process the factual information you authorise us to use to obtain and present personalised quotations as part of the service you have requested.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records, for example for tax, accounting or to defend a legal claim. We process and retain personal data where this is necessary to comply with legal obligations applicable to SavYour under Irish and European Union law.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure and improve our service, and to understand how our website is used. Where we rely on this, we balance it against your rights and keep the processing proportionate.
- Consent — for optional cookies, and for any future optional feature where we ask you to opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Insurance quote retrieval authorisation — where you ask us to retrieve a personalised insurance quotation, we will ask you to authorise the retrieval and the factual information that will be used. The legal basis for the associated processing is performance of our contract with you.
What personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to review your bills and deliver the service you paid for. Depending on the service and the categories you ask us to review, this may include:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number and home address (including Eircode).
- Bill and provider details — your current providers, plans, tariffs, renewal dates and the amounts you pay, supplied by you as uploaded bills, screenshots or details you type in.
- Account reference and policy details — which may be needed to review a bill, switch or claim — for example your MPRN or GPRN (energy), broadband account number, or insurance policy number.
- Insurance quotation information — where you ask us to retrieve a personalised quotation, your name, Eircode, sum insured, current policy details and any other factual information the relevant insurer or broker requires to return the quotation, together with the quotation information received.
- Complaint details — if you buy Complaint Support, the facts of your complaint and any correspondence you share with us.
- Payment confirmation — a record that your payment succeeded. Your card details are handled by our payment provider, not by us.
- Website usage data — your IP address, browser and device type, and how you use our website. See our Cookie Policy.
Sensitive data
We do not seek special categories of personal data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs). Financial information is not a special category under GDPR. Please do not send us sensitive personal data unless we specifically ask for it; if we ever need it, we will explain why and seek your explicit consent first.
How we use your data
- To deliver your service — to review your bills, build your Savings Action Plan, prepare Complaint Support materials, and deliver them to you within our stated timeframes.
- To retrieve personalised insurance quotations — where you authorise us to do so, to use the factual information needed to obtain and present quotation information from the relevant insurer or broker.
- To communicate with you — to confirm your order, ask for anything missing, deliver your results and answer your questions.
- To take payment — to process your fee and keep a record of the transaction.
- To meet our obligations — to keep accounting records, handle any dispute, and comply with the law.
- To operate and improve — to keep the website secure and understand, in aggregate, how it is used.
Future services
Insurance quote retrieval is used only when you request it and specifically authorise the required information retrieval. If we later introduce a feature that shares your data with a third party for any other purpose, we will explain what data will be shared, with whom and why, and ask for any consent required before you use it. You will always be able to say no, and saying no will not affect the service you have already paid for unless that sharing is necessary to provide the feature itself.
Payments
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Your card details are entered directly with them on their secure checkout and are never stored on our systems. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy. We receive only confirmation of payment and the limited details needed to record the transaction.
How long we keep your data
- Service, review and insurance quote retrieval data — retained for 24 months from your last contact with us. Households review their bills roughly once a year, so this lets you return for an updated review and lets us resolve any query or dispute. After 24 months we delete or anonymise it.
- Accounting and transaction records — retained for 6 years, as required by Irish tax and company law.
- Complaint Support records — retained for 24 months from closure, to support any follow-up or escalation.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on secure servers within the European Economic Area (EEA). If any processor we use transfers data outside the EEA, we rely on a European Commission adequacy decision or on Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.
How we protect your data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and EU-region hosting. No system is completely secure, but we take your data seriously and limit access to those who need it to deliver your service.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data, where no legal obligation requires us to keep it.
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to another organisation.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to any direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where we rely on your consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@savyour.ie. We will respond within one month.
